Meet Sunghee Kim, DM, MACP, LMHCA
I’m Sunghee Kim, a therapist, educator, musician, and lifelong sojourner.
I believe therapy is a space to honor your whole story, embrace every part of who you are, and help you feel more connected to yourself and others. Because both pain and healing unfold in relationships, I see the therapeutic connection as central to the process. I offer a steady, thoughtful presence where you can explore your story, deepen your understanding of yourself, and develop more life-giving ways of relating to yourself and others.
My therapeutic approach is focused on understanding your experiences and supporting lasting growth:
Relational and Attachment-Based
Early relationships shape our deepest wounds. Therapy focuses on understanding these patterns and restoring a sense of security and connection.Honoring Your Unique Story
Life is shaped by culture, emotion, and relationships. Every part of your identity is respected, and your experiences are fully heard as you work toward growth.Trauma-Focused and Depth-Oriented
Healing looks beyond surface symptoms. I am an EMDR-trained therapist, and I gently explore the root causes of struggles to promote lasting wholeness, resilience, and inner peace.
Who is Sunghee…
My professional journey began in music and education. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I was a college professor and concert musician. Years of listening closely to tone, silence, and subtle shifts beneath the surface taught me to honor each person’s unique voice and story. This attentiveness continues to guide how I practice therapy today.
While teaching and advising college students, I discovered a growing desire to listen more deeply to the stories they carried and support them in making sense of their struggles. This calling led me to pursue training in counseling, bringing the same care and attention to the inner lives of those I work with.
Born in Seoul, Korea, and having lived in the United States for over 25 years, I have navigated multiple cultures, languages, and expectations. I understand the challenges people face around identity, belonging, faith, and relationships, especially for those who feel caught between worlds and seek a place to feel truly at home in themselves and their communities.
